G.G. McPherson was the son of Alexander McPherson and Nancy Dallas of Robeson County, NC. Flora Sophia Johnson was the daugher of Neil B. Johnson [NC State Legislature 1829] and Flora Currie Johnson [daughter of Randal Currie & Nelly Johnston Currie] of Robeson County, NC. Gib and Sophia married in 1845. According to Rev. Hector McLean's Diary, Sophia McPherson and her two young sons died in August 1856 during a raging epidemic called the "bloody flux" in the Antioch region. All three were buried in Antioch Church cemetery, their graves unmarked.
