Duncan McKay was the son of Daniel McKay and Nancy McMillan McKay of Robeson County, NC. Harriett McNeill was the daughter of "Wild Archie" McNeill and Elizabeth [nee McNeill] McNeill. Duncan and Harriett married in 1843. Their home was in Philadelphus near Red Springs.
